It wouldn't be a third-person shooter without some guns, with Returnal throwing players a basic pistol at the start, right through to an insane Electropylon Driver. Each individual weapon has unique traits that can be unlocked with enhanced perks as you push out more damage on your alien enemies. Selene also has a melee weapon that she can use to attack enemies, and destroy resource geodes, or barriers š«š«š«
Better yet, Returnal's recent Ascension update allows for some awesome (and somewhat old-school) online cooperative multiplayer, which can see you and a friend playing through Returnal's campaign together.
Returnal PC System Requirements
Returnal has built on the foundations of Unreal Engine 4, with the development team at Housemarque building in-house extensions to Unreal Engine 4 for the game, including things like particle systems and volumetric rendering, both of which Returnal heavily rely on š¾š¾š¾
The game requires a powerful PC if you want to enjoy all of the visual bells and whistles Returnal has to offer, but there's AI upscaling technology in both NVIDIA DLSS and AMD FSR to help drive those FPS numbers up. There's also a wicked built-in benchmark, which is useful for getting to your designed resolution + frame rate.
