Capcom is enjoying some monster sales of Resident Evil 4 Remake, where in the first 48 hours over 3 million copies flew out the door... and now we're at the 4-week mark the company is boasting of over 4 million copies sold. Great stuff to see!
In a new press release, Capcom explains: "The Resident Evil franchise features survival horror games in which players utilize a variety of weapons and other items to escape terrifying situations. Cumulative shipments of the games in the series now exceed 135 million units* since the first title debuted in 1996. Now, more than 27 years later, continuous support from the passionate fan base across the globe makes it Capcom’s flagship game series".
It's hard to believe it has been 27 years since the original Resident Evil, where I very fondly remember playing it on the original PlayStation, in the dark, with my brother, and scaring the pants off us the entire time. Especially, those damn dogs smashing through the window... I mean, it is just a pure classic and the remakes are doing great sales which means we should see Capcom capitalize on this, big time. I don't think gamers mind at all, considering the smashing sales of the remakes so far.
