Blizzard will be unveiling its new hero in the next few hours, with it now leaked: Lifeweaver.
Lifeweaver will be the 37th playable character in the game and the 9th support hero. The new support character has a technology he uses called biolight that will both heal his teammates, as well as build structures that act like a platform that lifts players onto higher ground. An interesting flex for Overwatch, with Lifeweaver able to reposition teammates with his ability dubbed Life Grip, something that shields and pulls teammates closer toward him.
For example: one of your teammates has been pushed off a ledge and will fall off the map to their death, so Lifeweaver can use his Life Grip ability to pull them back up, alternatively, the ability can be used to pull someone out of the line of fire when an enemy pulls their ultimate. It sounds exciting and will change the meta of Overwatch 2 in multiple ways.
Overwatch 2 lead hero designer Alec Dawson said that Lifeweaver's playstyle was made to give players who have issues with aiming, another way to play a support character (that isn't just a pure healer like Mercy, for example). Alec Dawson told PCGamesN: "The aim was to create another support hero that didn't rely on aim skill. Lifeweaver is designed for players that care a bit more about their own positioning, their game sense -- those are the skills they check on more than necessarily aim skill".
Lifeweaver's ultimate is something called Tree of Life, which lets you create a gigantic tree structure anywhere on the map, which pumps out both healing pulses and acts as a cover for your team to avoid incoming enemy fire.
We only have a few more hours until the official unveiling of Lifeweaver, where I'm looking forward to actual Overwatch 2 gameplay of him in action.
