It was close to a month before anyone discovered, but classified US military documents were leaked and sat on a Minecraft Discord server before anyone noticed them. CNN reports that the leaked US military documents were sitting on a Minecraft Discord server in early March 2023, filled with information on Russian casualties and weapons systems available to Ukraine.

Aric Toler, a researcher at Bellingcat, said: "This sh*t was sitting in a Minecraft Discord server for a month, and no one noticed".

The world started noticing after a user posted a few documents to 4chan, while on April 7 some of the Discord members were worried they'd get in trouble for reposting the leaked US military documents. I'm sure in a state of worry, the user who posted the leaked documents on March 1 deleted their Twitter and Discord accounts shortly after.

The leak began on a smaller Discord server but then were re-uploaded to a larger Minecraft Discord server with many more users, before spreading out to 4chan, Twitter, and Telegram. The purported reason the leaked US military documents were uploaded to the Minecraft Discord server was during an argument about Minecraft maps and the war in Ukraine. Alrighty.
