Lots of movements over at Intel right now, with rumours of the upcoming 14th Gen Core "Raptor Lake Refresh" CPUs, and Intel dropping the 'i' from its product branding with the future-gen 15th Gen Core "Meteor Lake" CPUs coming in Q4 2024.
But, a new leaked roadmap teases that Intel's new CPUs will use the old Core series branding -- so we'll still see the Core i5, Core i7, and Core i9 for the last time -- in upcoming CPUs including the Core i5-14600K, Core i7-14700K, and Core i9-14900K processors. Chinese media site "Golden Pig Upgrade" has the scoop, teasing what's coming with the upcoming 14th Gen Core "Raptor Lake Refresh" CPUs.
We could expect Intel's upcoming Raptor Lake Refresh CPUs to feature both new and old naming schemes, but the company will only use new Core 3, Core 5, and Core i7 for the upcoming 14th Gen Core CPUs -- without the 'i' there -- for low-power U-series mobile CPUs. Meanwhile, the big bad new "Core Ultra" branding will only be whipped out exclusively for the next-gen 15th Gen Core "Meteor Lake" CPUs, while the upcoming 14th Gen Core "Raptor Lake Refresh" CPUs will not have this branding.
