Hogwarts Legacy has become one of the biggest games of 2023 in a number of ways, with the open-world action RPG developed by Avalanche Software earning itself over $1 billion USD in retail sales alone... that's a shave under $1.5 billion AUD. Wowzers.

The game has been phenomenally successful on the PC and Xbox, recently hitting the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One which have a gigantic userbase of gamers that are now able to play Hogwarts Legacy. Not only that, but the game is also only a couple of months away from launching on the biggest console platform on the market in 2023: the portable Nintendo Switch.

In its recent Q1 2023 press release, Warner Bros. Discovery said that the Q1 launch of Hogwarts Legacy was the "largest release of all time for Warner Bros. Games and is the best selling game year-to-date with over $1 billion in retail sales". Impressive stuff to see, that's for sure. We're sure these numbers are only going to swell now that Hogwarts Legacy is on the biggest userbase of consoles: PS4 and Xbox One. 

For now, champagne is most likely being popped right now at both Avalanche Studios and Warner Bros. Discovery, and so they should! $1 billion+ USD in retail sales for a game that isn't Call of Duty? Fantastic!
