So... you're in the market for a new Gaming PC and need to know what's the best Gaming CPU on the market? With a few new entries from AMD in the form of the brand-new Ryzen 7 7800X3D... let's compare the new CPU packing 3D V-Cache technology against Intel's flagship Core i9-13900KF processor.
Before we dive into this, both of these processors are fantastic Gaming CPUs... both of them will deliver uncompromising performance in older, current, and even upcoming games. We have these CPUs in both our Ready to Ship Patriot and Ready to Ship M.O.A.B.Gaming PCs.
Pairing them with 32GB of DDR5 memory, super-fast 1-2TB Gen4 NVMe M.2 SSD storage, and an enthusiast-class NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4080 16GB -- or better yet -- GeForce RTX 4090 24GB, will make for one of the most powerful Gaming PCs you can configure today.
Comparing 7800X3D vs 13900KF: They're both powerful processors, with different strengths and weaknesses. AMD's new Ryzen 7 7800X3D has fewer cores and threads, and lower base and boost clocks... but consumes far less power and doesn't get anywhere near as hot. It's made on a new process node and can boost at up to 5.0GHz on an air cooler.
The Intel Core i9-13900KF on the other hand has far more cores and threads, boosts at up to 5.7GHz, but consumes FAR more power and gets FAR hotter than the 7800X3D.
Which CPU is the one for you? Both of them are fantastic choices, but if we had to choose it would be the AMD Ryzen 7 7800X3D as the best Gaming CPU. If you need more cores, there's the other 3D V-Cache CPUs from AMD in the form of the Ryzen 9 7900X3D and Ryzen 9 7950X3D, too.
But, if you want that pure insane 5.7GHz+ CPU clock speeds... the Intel Core i9-13900KF isn't going to let you down. It is a deliciously-fast CPU, but we're warning you -- it uses far more power (250-300W+ under load, compared to 60-75W from the 7800X3D) and will need a 240mm or even 360mm AIO liquid cooler to keep cool (compared to just air-cooling on the 7800X3D).
More benefits: AMD's new Ryzen 7 7800X3D is a couple of hundred dollars cheaper, uses far less power, and runs far cooler to the point where you don't need a more expensive 240mm or 360mm AIO liquid cooler.
Overall, our recommendation:
Console-killing Patriot 7800X3D + RTX 4080 for $4699 Ultra-spec M.O.A.B. 13900KF + RTX 4090 for $6999
The console-killing Ready to Ship Patriot configured with the 7800X3D and RTX 4080 is a killer combo, offering the best Gaming CPU, with the second-best Gaming GPU. The 7800X3D only needs a 120mm AIO cooler, so it fits into the Patriot while coming in at just $4699. 4K 120FPS gaming for under $5K... not bad at all.
The ultra-spec Ready to Ship M.O.A.B. configuration with the 13900KF + RTX 4090 offers the absolute best CPU -- no matter how hot, or how much power it uses -- with the best Gaming GPU: the GeForce RTX 4090 24GB. The RTX 4090 is so powerful and so big, it needs the M.O.A.B. Super Tower to even fit.
One of our console-killing Ready to Ship PatriotGaming PCs is configured with AMD's new Ryzen 7 7800X3D processor and teamed with a super-fast NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4080 with 16GB of GDDR6X memory.
The powerhouse CPU + GPU combo is joined by 32GB of DDR5-5200 RGB memory, and a 1TB Gen4 NVMe M.2 SSD inside of our beautiful Allied Patriot 6-Fan RGB ATX case. The 7800X3D processor is cooled by our IceCube 120mm AIO liquid cooler, ensuring those 8 cores and 16 threads are boosting to their peak 5.0GHz frequency.
The best Gaming CPU is inside of our Ready to Ship Patriot for $4699 configured with:
If you want the very best CPU and GPU hardware on the market, look no further than our ultra-spec Ready to Ship M.O.A.B.Gaming PC configured with the Ryzen 7 7800X3D and NVIDIA's fastest GPU: the GeForce RTX 4090 with 24GB of GDDR6X memory.
This Gaming PC also rocks 32GB of DDR5-5200 RGB memory, a larger 2TB Gen4 NVMe M.2 SSD, and looks totally amazing inside of our Allied M.O.A.B. 7-Fan RGB Super Tower case. The 7800X3D is kept at its chillest with our IceCube 360mm AIO liquid cooler.
This system is ready for 4K 120FPS gaming, and it won't run as hot as the 13900KF processor M.O.A.B. Gaming PC, as the 7800X3D only sips power at around 70W๐ชซ
Remember: the 13900KF will use 250-300W in comparison ๐๐๐
The absolute highest-end Gaming PC that we sell is our Ready to Ship M.O.A.B. with the Intel Core i9-13900KF + NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4090 24GB configuration. AMD's new Ryzen 7 7800X3D taps out with 8 cores and 16 threads at up to 5.0GHz, but the Core i9-13900KF offers an incredible 24 cores and 32 threads at up to 5.7GHz ๐คฏ๐คฏ๐คฏ
This Gaming PC also packs 32GB of DDR5-5200 RGB memory and a larger 2GB Gen4 NVMe M.2 SSD, while the 13900KF is also cooled by the IceCube 360mm AIO liquid cooler... which is required for the 13900KF processor, as it will use much more power at 250-300W, which needs more radical cooling to operate at its huge 5.7GHz boost clocks.
The beefiest Gaming CPU is inside of our Ready to Ship M.O.A.B. for $6999 configured with:
