AMD looks to be working on a next-gen Ryzen Threadripper PRO processor, with the new Ryzen Threadripper PRO 7985WX processor spotted rocking 64 cores and 128 threads of Zen 4-powered CPU power.
The new Ryzen Threadripper PRO 7985WX processor was spotted with DDR5 memory, with the CPU codenamed "Storm Peak" eventually arriving with SKUs including 64 cores, and even up to 96 cores (which would be nuts on a high-end PC). AMD could reuse dies from its EPYC 9004 processor, putting another nail into Intel's nail-laden coffin.
If the Ryzen Threadripper PRO 7985WX processor has 64 cores, we could expect something like the Ryzen Threadriper PRO 7995WX processor to feature up to 96 cores... something I hope to see. The new 64C/128T processor was spotted on the PugetBench website, next to AMD's reference and validation board. It featured 256GB of DDR5-5600 RAM and an NVIDIA RTX A5000 workstation GPU.
We could expect to see a new LGA6096 motherboard with 8-channel DDR5 memory support, and a whopping 128 PCIe 5.0 lanes ready for huge amounts of GPUs and super-fast NVMe M.2 SSDs. AMD is reportedly preparing an LGA4844 socket for a Threadripper CPU, with 4-channel RAM support and 64 PCIe 5.0 lanes.
